“If there is a book you want to read, but it has not been written yet, then you must write it.”

Author Bio: Sonya Justice

Sonya Justice is the author of the award-winning article “Inked! Nursing Tips from a Tattoo Parlor” and writer of several children’s book manuscripts — a literacy passion project she’d dreamed of in 2010 and finally received the opportunity to pursue in 2021. She also published the nurse lifestyle magazine Fabulous Nurse from 2010 to 2014 for 100, 0000 print subscribers, and created The Reel Nurses Talk Show which ran weekly on cable television from 2013 until 2016.

She fosters human growth and development across the lifespan by leveraging her education and clinical background gained from over 20 years of experience as a nurse. In addition to her volunteer work with the Washington State School for the Blind, she has furthered her mission by founding a Youth Wellness Program and the Foundation for the Advancement of Nursing & Public Health. The Youth Wellness Program, created in 2018, enhances the mental health and well-being of teens through a skill-building workshop. The Foundation for the Advancement of Nursing & Public Health utilizes the expertise of nurses to educate the public on critical health matters.

Born Elsie Ekwa, her preferred name Sonya Justice is an anagram created from her deceased parents’ names. It honors their love and sacrifice, which helped shape the person she is today. The name serves to immortalize their memory.

Sonya’s interests vary. She is equally comfortable at the symphony, hiking, playing tennis, skiing or in a jaunt about town where she oftentimes discovers hidden gems that add color and character to any locale. An avid “urban farmer”, Sonya looks forward to the last frost each spring so that she can plant her organic vegetable garden. She lives and writes in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (PNW) region of the United States.
